13th Post

At the beginning of this reading they are deciding to sneak Simon onto the subway. All of the vampires aren't very happy. Simon goes missing when Clary's bag was ripped. Jace and Clary talk to Magnus and he says that he saw a vampire take a rat, isn't sure if it was Simon. They get Magnus to say where the vampires' lair is, Hotel Dumont. Jace uses some riddle to get into the church to get weapons to defend themselves from the vampires. Vampire's weakness is holy objects or blessed objects. Then they head to the hotel, where someone changed the "n" in Dumont to an "r" to make it Dumort, which means "of death." Clary and Jace break into the abandoned hotel, well abandoned by humans atleast. There is vampire garbage, bones of animals, everywhere around it. Since everything is boarded up they have to search through the garbage to find a door.

I think that it was a good idea to sneak Simon into Clary's backpack. I was very surprised when Simon went missing. I didn't expect that at all. I don't think it's right for Magnus to always be concerned about helping Jace and Clary because he doesn't want to get into trouble. He went through Clary's mind and erased her memory and he still makes a big deal about helping her, I don't really like that. I think it's interesting that a vampire's weakness is blessed objects. This pretty much comes right out to say that vampires are unholy. I am interested to see if Jace and Clary actually get into the hotel. I think if they do get into the hotel the story is going to get very intense.

They go into Magnus' party. The people are weird looking in there, green hair, different teeth, such as shark-looking. Simon and Isabelle are dancing. A vampire comes up and says that his bike was ruined. The vampire is told to leave by Magnus. Alec tells Magnus they ruined his bike with holy water, Magnus figured. They say they want to have a word with Magnus in private, and it will be kept confidential. Magnus agrees, Clary tells him how her parents are both gone, and her mother was of the Clave. Jace tells him they found his name in her mind. Magnus says he was the one to clear her mind, her mother told him to. Her mother had come to him and asked him if he could make not see the Shadow World. They had to come back every two years to restrengthen it, and she was actually due for another appointment recently. The spell would be dangerous to reverse, it'll wear off eventually. Magnus had a difficult childhood too, different doesn't make things better. He has her study a rune, things she would've learned if she was brought up the other way, as a Shadowhunter. Runes might help to bring back memories. Magnus says there wasn't anything in her memory about a mortal cup, thinks Valentine is out for revenge and he won't get in his way. Simon turned into a rat. Clary gets furious at Isabelle and finds Simon, he will turn back on his own in a couple of hours.

I think that this book is getting interesting. I thought it was interesting how the vampire got all worked up about his bike and was forced to leave. I thought it was funny how Alec just came out and said they did it to Magnus. I really thought Magnus was going to help Clary, and he sort of did, but didn't at the same time. He gave her help to maybe help trigger her memories. He also refused to help look for the cup though, which is what they were mainly looking for. I was very, very suprised that Clary flipped on Isabelle. I never thought she would actually do that, although I knew she had hard feelings toward Isabelle for getting close to Simon. I thought it was funny that Simon turned into a rat. Out of all creatures he became a rat. It's good that he will turn back to his normal self, or as normal as he can be after that, soon. I'm enjoying this book and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.

In this reading Clary learns that the Clave has sent Shadowhunters, but that's all that Hodge was told. Hodge gave Clary a sleeping potion because she was having trouble sleeping, but she spills it and Jace tells her a horrible bedtime story instead. She was woken up by Isabelle and told to get dressed for Bane's party. She couldn't wear her clothes because she'd stick out too much. She was stuck with a tight black dress on her, but it was a shirt on Isabelle. She also had fishnet tights and boots. Isabelle does Clary's hair and make-up. Clary figures out Alec is gay, but she isn't allowed to tell anyone because it's frowned upon by the elders. Simon was astonished by how Clary looked. Jace was more laid back, but says he likes the dress. He took Clary's hair out of the bun too. They arrive at the party, but Magnus Bane says he doesn't remember inviting them. They have an ivitation though, so he lets them in. He tells them not to kill anyone. They tell Jace to try not to make him mad so they can still get help from him.

I think that Clary is attracted to Jace. She seems to always act like it around him and she even talks to him about people being attracted to him every once in a while. I thought it was kind of funny that even though she didn't like the bedtime story Jace told her, she fell asleep quickly after that. I didn't even realize before that Clary even had the smallest thought that Alec was gay, so I was surprised by that. I thought it was funny that the black dress that Isabelle let Clary use was actually a shirt on Isabelle. I thought it was amusing how Simon was surprised by what Clary was wearing. I'm interested to see what happens at the party.

10th Post

The Silent City has different levels. On one level they bury some of their dead. They also burn their dead who died in war, and use their ashes to make the marble in the Silent City. They finally arrive in front of the Council of Silent Brothers. She tells them she wants to be ready for them to enter her mind, they don't like that very much. She says she's ready very shortly after that. She sees flashbacks, of her mother running, a coffin being lowered, her mom talking to Luke who she previously thought was dead, and other things. She has to find out what Magnus Bane means. There is still a block in her mind, but it could kill her if they tried to get past it. Clary hurt her arm while they were going through her mind, Jace goes to help her after. Then they head back to the Institute, but by cab this time. They go out to eat, but have to keep the details quiet because Downworlders could be around. Downworlders aren't usually the Shadowhunters' enemies unless they bother them. They have a party invitation for Magnus the Magnificent Warlock, which sounds like Magnus Bane. They are deciding to show up at this party. Clary finds a picture of her mother around seventeen or eighteen, she looks like Clary. She was in a group that was wearing Shadowhunter-like clothing and her arm was was around a good-looking boy. Hodge told her it was Valentine.

I was surprised at how they burn the dead who died in war and made it into the marble. I definitely thought that was just a bit strange. I thought that they found one important thing from going through Clary's mind, and that was the name. Also, I found it interesting how Jace again helped Clary when she was hurt and needed it, how he almost rushed over when he could. I hope that this Magnus Bane is indeed the guy throwing the party. I want them to find out whatever they need to about him. I liked the part when Clary saw the picture with her mother, Valentine, Luke, and Hodge in it. I think that this picture may have some significance to it. I am very interested to see what happens next in the book.

9th Post

This reading begins with Clary having a dream about Simon and Jace. Clary meets Brother Jeremiah of the Silent Brothers. Brother Jeremiah is very mysterious looking and pale, and when he takes his hood down his face looks mutilated. To see into Clary's memories, Brother Jeremiah puts his hands against her face. Clary feels a lot of tension and pressure and is very uncomfortable. She clenches her fists, so her nails dig into her skin. Jace tells him to stop. Brother Jeremiah is being blocked from her memories by a spell, so they have to go to the Bone City. Jace makes fun of Simon's appearance a little bit. Clary thinks of Isabelle and Simon possibly dating. Their transportation to the Bone City looked more like a "limousine" at first, but when Clary relaxed and looked at it, it looked more like "Cinderella's carriage". Jace wants revenge on the men that killed his father. Jace lets Clary know that he saw his father die and his father's blood soaked his shoes. She learns that demons are pure evil. They go into New York City Marble Cemetery where they open up a passageway that leads underground, almost grave-like. Jace offers to hold Clary's hand. That is how this reading ends.

I think that this book is very good so far. I was very surprised by the fact that Clary didn't put up as big fuss when she met Brother Jeremiah. I thought she would resist it more, but she didn't, she went along with it. I think she went along with it because she will do anything to find her mother. Brother Jeremiah sounds creepy to me because he had his hood up and when he took it down his face had a mutilated look. I think that Jace might be a little bit jealous of Simon because Clary likes Simon as a friend, but she doesn't seem as fond of Jace. I think that it is a possibility that Jace is jealous of Simon, not a fact. I also think that Jace is defensive of Clary. I felt bad for Jace when I learned what he saw of his father's death. I am very anxious to see what happens in this passageway. I think that the passageway leads to the Bone City.

In this reading they go to talk to Hodge. They learn about this group called Circle of Raziel. Valentine, who seems to be the villian, was part of it, along with Hodge, Clary's mother, Jace's father, Pangborn, and Blackwell. Clary's mother was also Valentine's wife. Some of them left when they saw this Circle was going in a bad direction. The Circle was meant to make the world pure, but Valentine was willing to go to extremes for this. Clary's mother was one to leave, Hodge didn't. Neither did Alec and his parents, so Hodge, Alec, and Alec's parents can't return to Idris except for business. Now they think that Valentine is back to get the Mortal Cup and turn random children into Shadowhunters, that is if they survive. They are worried that Valentine may be after Clary's mother. Clary is worried about her mother. They are probably going to take Clary to the Silent Brothers, who can get into people's heads and thoughts, to retrieve her memories and information that she isn't aware of. Clary is nervous. That is the end of the reading.

This reading interested me very, very much. I was absolutely shocked to here that Clary's mother was married to Valentine, the pretty much evil villian of this book. I'm pretty sure Clary was in shock too. I am worried for Clary because I think that there is that possibility that Valentine is out to find Clary's mother, and I don't think for a good reason. I feel that if Valentine is indeed after Clary's mother, he will find her. I definitely think that Valentine is the main villian in this book because he has Pangborn and Blackwell as his helpers and he is out to find the Mortal Cup and create a scene it seems. I think that they will take Clary to the Silent Brothers because it sounds like they need to. I am anxious to find out what happens next in this book.

7th Post

In this reading, they are still at Luke's house at the beginning. Clary gets a change of her own clothes that she had kept there. They found some weapons in the house and a picture of Clary, her mother, and Luke together. This was the picture that she had used in the apartment with the demon, which means Luke has been to the apartment recently. Luke comes to the house with two warlocks, but before they arrive Simon, Clary, and Jace all hide because they see him coming. Luke is all battered up. The warlocks are Blackwell and Panghorn. They are looking for the Mortal Cup, and they are possibly thinking Clary's mom could have it. Valentine is apparently the one who is sending things to look for Clary and her mom. They call Luke "Lucian". The warlocks and Luke left. Those warlocks were the people who killed Jace's father. Then Simon, Clary, and Jace left Luke's to go to the Shadowhunters' research/safe place in a church in the city. The church isn't very pretty inside. The cat's name in the church is Church. Jace tells the cat to take him to Alec, but instead he takes him to Isabelle, who isn't happy that he brought Simon in. Then Jace tells Church to take them to Hodge. That is the end of the reading.

In this reading, I was worried that Luke was going to find them in the house. I finally found out who was behind the demons though, which made me happy. I am curious to find out what exactly happened to Luke. I think it's kind of interesting how the warlocks who are talking to Luke are the same people who killed Jace's father. I was surprised how Jace held his temper and you didn't even know those were the people who killed his father until he said it. I was surprised that he actually let Simon into the Shadowhunter place because Simon is just an ordinary human. I am anxious to see how Hodge reacts to Simon being in the Shadowhunters' place and how the rest of the story turns out.

6th Post

In this reading Jace and Clary are talking to Madame Dorothea about monsters. Clary finds out that her mother used to be a Shadowhunter. Clary feels that it is all her fault her mother didn't escape the creature that attacked her. Clary knew her mother wouldn't leave without her. Clary goes in where her mother was going to escape. Jace followed her in the Portal. The Portal leads to wherever you are thinking of, and apparently Clary was thinking of Luke's house becuase that's where they ended up. They find Simon hiding in the bushes at Luke's house. Luke lied to Simon about where Clary was and Simon saw Luke packing a bag full of weapons, some glowing. Clary tells Simon about Shadowhunters and the rest of that stuff. They break into Luke's house. They find blood. Simon, Clary, and Jace decide to find out if Luke is okay, and that's where this reading ends.

I think that this book is about to get intense. I was expecting to here that Clary's mom was a Shadowhunter. I was shocked that Clary learned it from Madame Dorothea. I thought that Clary had good intentions of going into the Portal, just to see what her mom thought was a good place to be safe. I thought it was stupid that she was going by herself. I'm very glad Jace followed her though. I was very surprised that they found Simon hiding in the bushes. I thought that he was out of the book because they haven't really mentioned much more about him until now. I guess he is still in the book then. I am very anxious to see if Luke is okay, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the rest of the book.

5th Post

Hodge has flashbacks of death and blood to start off this reading. In the weapon room, Jace and Alec are working on weapons. Clary learns the defintion of magic, "a dark and elemental force". They don't use magic. Jace agrees to go home with Clary. Alec's father and Jace's father were parabatai, "warriors who fight together-who are closer than brothers." Jace and Clary go to her apartment, and Clary insists on seeing her room. An unusually huge man with ax in his "dead-white hand" comes through the door. He also had ripped and dirty clothes. They kill this creature, which is a stele. They talk to Madame Dorothea. Madame Dorothea knows about the Clave, and she tells Clary to forget about her mother.

I like this reading because it got intense again. My favorite part of this reading was the fight between the stele and Clary and Jace. It was very upbeat, intense, and exciting. I definitely think that they should stay away from Clary's old apartment for good now though. This is because every time she goes back, she gets attacked by some mythical being. It's not like I don't like the intenseneess of the fights, but for her sake she should stay away. The part where they went to talk to Madame Dorothea puzzled me because I thought that they said earlier in the book that she didn't use real magic or whatever. I guess not though becuase they do end up talking to her and it surprised me that she knew about the Clave and Jace. I am looking forward to see how the talk with Madame Dorothea goes and the rest of the book.

4th Post

This reading starts off right after Clary wakes up in the hospital. She is wearing Isabelle's clothes because Jace burnt hers. She heard about Idris, which is the home base for Shadowhunters. She gets to meet Hodge, who she has been told about before, and the bird on his shoulder, Hugo. She finds out for sure that she is not a regular human being, and that there had to be a reason the demon was after her family. This reason isn't known, but I'm sure they will try to find it out. Hodge is going to tell the Clave and the Silent Brothers about Clary, but the Clave don't sound very pleasant to Clary. Clary is allowed to go see her home as long as Jace goes with her.

I am enjoying this book so far, but this reading was a little slow for me. There wasn't as much action this reading as there was the last reading. It was pretty much all discussion about the past of Shadowhunters and what the Shadowhunters are going to do with Clary. I am really anxious to know the reason the demons were hunting down Clary's mother. I am curious to see if anyone in Clary's past was a Shadowhunter. I am looking foward to see the Clave's reaction to Clary being there. To me they sound like a big part of the Shadowhunters, almost like the lawmakers. I am looking foward to reading the next reading of my book.

3rd Post

In the third section of my reading Clary finishes her dicussion with Jace. Jace and Clary find this mark on her right arm, like Shadowhunters have. Jace has one on his left because he is left-handed. Jace is also a Shadowhunter, and what they do is hunt demons. Jace has to take Clary to the Institute to meet Hodge, Jace's tutor, because she knows the truth. Mythical creature such as vampires and zombies do exist. Clary receives a frantic call from her mother telling her to go to Simon's house and alert Luke that she's been found. Clary goes towards home anyway. Their apartment was a total mess. Then there was this creature in her apartment that looked like a mix of "an alligator and a centipede"-page 50. It was the thing making the noise in the background of the phone call. It attacked Clary and she made it bite down on the Sensor she got off of Jace. When she went to run away she got knocked out by an object. When she wakes up Jace is there. She learns the creature was an Eidolon demon, specifically a Ravener. If she doesn't get immediate help she will die because of the Ravener poison. Clary sees her battered mother when she wakes up for the second time after passing out again, she was out for three days. In that time, Clary got help. Clary finds out from Isabelle that Jace's parents are both dead.

There was a lot of information in these twenty pages. I thought it got the most intense at two points in these twenty pages. One point was when Clary received that phone call from her mother. I got very nervous for Clary and was very, very anxious to find out what happened. The other point that I thought was very intense was when Clary got home and was attacked by the Ravener. I really felt at that point that she might die. I found it very interesting that in this book, not only do these Shadowhunters and demons exist, but also vampires and zombies and such exist as well. I am very anxious to see what happens to Clary's mother. I am also questioning whether Luke is Clary's mother's boyfriend or not. This story is really starting to pick up the pace and I'm enjoying it a lot. I didn't really think that this story was going to be this event filled, but that's fine because I don't mind the extra action. I am really enjoying this story and I am very, very anxious to see what happens to the characters next. I have a prediction for one of the characters. I think that Clary will join the Shadowhunters and hunt down the demons with them.

2nd post

As of now I know that Clary's father, who was a decorated soldier, died in a car accident before she was born. Also, Clary is in a fight with her mother because her mother, who's name is Jocelyn; Luke, one of her mother's close friends; and Clary are supposed to go on vacation for the rest of the summer. Clary ignores her mother's calls when Simon and Clary are at Simon's bandmate's, Eric's, poetry reading at a coffee shop. At the coffee shop Clary sees Jace, one of the guys from the night club before, and goes outside and talks to him. That's where this reading ends.

I have enjoyed this book so far. I did not like it though when Clary fought with her mother. She also created this whole big fight between her mother and Luke. I think that Clary should've just went along with the vacation, atleast for that point and time. Jocelyn, Clary's mother, needed a break from reality, and I don't think that Clary understood that. It made me sad when Clary left her mother alone and went out with Simon when her mother needed someone the most. It made me even more upset with Clary when she ignored her mother's phone calls. I am very anxious to find out what happens between Clary and Jace when she goes out to talk to him. I am looking forward to reading more of this book.

1st Post

The book I chose to read is City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. This book confused me at first, but I started to understand it after a while. The main character is a girl named Clary Fray. She goes to a club called Pandemonium with her friend Simon. There are a couple of strange looking people there. One had blue spikey hair and unusually bright green eyes. Another was a girl who was very beautiful for a normal human. The third that Clary particularly noticed was a boy who was wearing a red jacket and carried a knife. She finds them very suspicious when they go into a NO ADMITTANCE room. She ended up following them and getting herself involved in a murder of a creature, because these people she saw were not visible to a normal human. These creatures were not human.

The beginning of the book was a little confusing. After a couple pages I started to understand though, so I am no longer confused. I am enjoying this book so far. I was able to tell something was going to happen when she mentioned the unusual looking people that are stated in the paragraph above, especially the one with the knife. The fact that this girl, Clary is able to see the creatures is making me think that she might also be an unusual being, but she just isn't aware of it yet. I think that she might start figuring this out after she realized she was the only human that was able to see these people. I think that was is going to happen next is she is going to start finding out what makes her different from humans, and what makes her be able to see these people when nobody else can. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book.
